I love Christmas in New York City. It is unlike anywhere else. The lights, the decorations, the markets, the constant movement. It is beautiful, exciting, and at times overwhelming. Over the years, I have learned that while I love the festive energy of the city, what I crave most during this season is stillness, meaning, and moments that ground me in what Christmas truly represents.
One of the most meaningful ways I experience Christmas in NYC is through Brooklyn Tabernacle.

Worship Through Dance at Christmas
For me, Christmas at Brooklyn Tabernacle is deeply woven into my life. As part of the dance ministry for the past ten years, I have had the privilege of ministering through movement during this beautiful season.
Last year, I took a break from serving during the Christmas season. It was a pause I prayerfully decided to take, as my work schedule at the time did not allow me to fully commit to rehearsals and serve faithfully. Even though I was able to attend the final rehearsal and performance as an observer, quietly watching from the sidelines, I realized just how much I missed being fully involved. Being away gave me perspective and reminded me how deeply this time of year, and this form of worship, shape my life. Returning this season with a renewed heart has made the experience even more meaningful, and I don’t take a single moment for granted.
Dance, for me, is worship. It is prayer in motion. It is offering my body, time, and heart back to God in gratitude. Preparing for Christmas services involves more than rehearsals. It is a season of prayer, fellowship, and sisterhood. Standing alongside my sisters in Christ, moving in unity, and lifting up the name of Jesus is a gift I never take lightly.
There is something incredibly humbling about being part of a Spirit-filled cast during such a meaningful time of year. It is a reminder that worship does not always look the same, but it is always rooted in surrender.

Why Christmas at Brooklyn Tabernacle Is So Special
Experiencing Christmas at Brooklyn Tabernacle as a visitor is truly special. The atmosphere during the Christmas season is welcoming and deeply moving. The music and lights fill the sanctuary in a way that feels both powerful and intimate. There is a sense of unity in the room, with people from all walks of life coming together to celebrate Christmas.

A Meaningful Way to Experience Christmas in NYC
If you are looking for something meaningful to do in NYC during Christmas, I cannot recommend Brooklyn Tabernacle enough. It offers a beautiful way to celebrate the season in a way the whole family can enjoy.
Whether you are a local or visiting the city for the holidays, attending a Christmas service here is a beautiful way to experience the season differently. Services are open to the public, and the shows are free.
It is a reminder that Christmas is not just something we decorate for, but something we reflect on and carry within us.
Carrying the Season With Me
As I reflect on this season, I am deeply grateful. Grateful for the opportunity to serve, for a community that truly feels like family, and for moments of worship that re-center my heart.
Taking a step back last year gave me clarity. It reminded me how much this season, and this form of worship, means to me. Returning this year with a renewed heart has made every moment feel more intentional, more meaningful, and more grounded in gratitude.
Christmas in NYC can be beautiful and full of wonder, but it can also be deeply personal. Brooklyn Tabernacle has become one of those anchors for me, a place where the heart of the season remains steady and true.
Wherever you find yourself this Christmas, my hope is that you are able to carve out space for stillness, reflection, and connection, and to carry that sense of meaning with you long after the season has passed.
All glory to God.
